Day 1: New Year, New Blog, and an (Old) Poem

so, i guess the best way to start this is by saying the obligatory "happy new year!"

this is my fourth attempt at writing (and maintaining) a "blog", and the third time that i have used the "pry, to" name as a title. the title comes from a pearl jam "song", that really is not a song at all: it is just eddie vedder saying, "p-r-i-v-a-c-y is priceless to me" over and over. it fits, at least at times, with what i want to accomplish with the blog. privacy is priceless, and really, this is a way to "vent" things i would not otherwise have a way to vent.

the process of blogging also gives me a chance to write pretty much anything, from poems to short stories, about movies, books, whatever comes to mind (bullshit, i guess).

so, yeah... idea with this blog and meaning of the "365" pinned unto the title? i want to try, and try is a big word there, to write something for this blog daily for all of 2010. sometimes it'll be immensely personal, sometimes lyrics, maybe a video here and there... but my goal is to post something everyday. of course, the 365 also is for the fact that this is the third time i have used the name "pry, to". which by the way, the first attempt i deleted... but the name was taken and is now titled "fat black pussy". classy.

i hope it works.

anyway, again, happy new year.

"coming down"

coming down
wouldn't you know
isn't quite like getting high

the numbers are never the same
it's always faster
on the way down

you wake up remembering
yesterday was a blur
just scenes from a bar on the edge of town

coming down
wouldn't you know
isn't quite like getting high

walking through the haze
seeing a movie frame by frame
never quite sure when you started filming

you live in this grey
watching the peeling colors
drift away on some living lie

coming down
wouldn't you know
isn't quite like getting high

the numbers are never the same
it's always faster
on the way down

you wake up remembering
yesterday was a blur
just scenes from the bar on the edge of town.

ps: my old blog, unraveling seems, is still there. "finished" yesterday, but it'll be the blog i use, if i still am so inclined to do so, in 2011 after this experiment has run its course.

pps: also, if i do skip a day, i'll either schedule a post (if i know of a day i won't be able to blog) OR write however many were skipped after the fact.
